MONTGOMERY, Ala.| Following a home opening win over Faulkner Tuesday night, Alabama State travels to Birmingham to face UAB in another non-conference early season matchup Thursday.
Kick is set for 7 pm.
Alabama State returns home following the match against UAB, facing Jacksonville State on Sunday afternoon at the ASU Soccer Complex.
TAKING A LOOK BACK (5-0 WIN OVER FAULKNER)
After dropping a pair of games to open the season on the road, Alabama State (1-2) returned home to claim a 5-0 victory over Faulkner Tuesday night. The Lady Hornets used goals from four different players en route to the victory, including a pair of goals from
Isabella Beortegui. They also got the first career shutout from
Hrafnhildur Hjaltalin in the win.
TEAM LEADERS
Beortegui leads Alabama State with a pair of goals, while four other players each have scored a goal each through the first three matches.
Meaghan Fielding,
Kayla Tillman,
Fabienne Balvers and
Ashley Thomas each have scored a goal this season; with Fielding added an assist.
McKenna Wiscombe leads the Lady Hornets with a pair of assists, while
Paige Patton has one assist this season through three matches.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
UAB (0-2-2) enters the match off the heels of a 1-1 tie to in-state foe Troy, which followed back-to-back losses to TCU and South Alabama. The Blazers have played three in-state schools out of their four matches to start the season.
Megan Hudgens and Sha'nya Stephens have each scored a goal for UAB through their first four matches, while Stella Kiss and Tori Gann have each added an assist.
