Chicago, Ill. – Alabama State fell to Chicago State 3-0 (17-25, 22-25, 21-25) in a hard-fought non-conference volleyball match on Friday night in the Windy City Collegiate Volleyball Invitational.

The Lady Hornets (3-3) nearly hit .200 for the match but was outlasted by the Cougars (3-4) who hit .292 to earn the win in the last match of the day.

Senior
Bayle' Bennett and
Krysta Medearis both tallied double digit kills in 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Bennett added a team-high seven digs, two assists and a solo block to her stat line. Freshman
Madison Beasley posted a season-high 33 assists with six digs.

Set One (Alabama State 17, Chicago State 25)
Alabama State posted 14 kills with a .333 hitting percentage but Chicago State took the set with tallying 12 kills and a .417 hitting percentage. Bennett posted set highs of five kills (.571 hitting) and five digs. Young went a perfect 3-for-3 on attacks and Beasley recorded a set-high 12 assists.

Set Two (Alabama State 22, Chicago State 25)
Chicago State held Alabama State to a .167 hitting percentage to slip away with the tight three-point set win. The Cougars posted 17 kills with 16 digs in the set to hold off Alabama State. Medearis tallied four of the Lady Hornets' 12 kills with a .375 percentage.

Set Three (Alabama State 21, Chicago State 25)
Both teams once again fought hard to the end and despite both teams hitting sub-.200 the Cougars were able to take the set by forcing Alabama State to commit eight errors. Beasley posted a set-high 11 assists with two digs.

Alabama State will finish the Windy City Invitational on Saturday morning with an 11 a.m. match against Cal State-Fullerton.
