MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns home to begin a three-game homestand Saturday afternoon, facing in-state rival Alabama A&M in a key Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contest at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
Tip is set for 5 pm, with the game carried on the Hornet Sports Network, and will be part of a Black Out doubleheader against the Bulldogs.
Alabama State (7-17, 6-5 SWAC) enters the game on a season-high four-game winning streak following a pair of road wins over Mississippi Valley State and UAPB. The Hornets have won the last four games by an average of 9.5 points and currently sit in a three-way tie for fifth place, just one game back of third.
#What to Watch For
Tobi Ewuosho continues to lead Alabama State in both scoring and rebounding heading into the contest. The senior, a two-time SWAC Player of the Week award winner, is averaging 13.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this season.
Leon Daniels is averaging 9.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, while
Brandon Battle is at 7.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
In conference play, a pair of Hornets – Daniels and Ewuosho – are averaging in double figures with Daniels leading the way at 12.9 points and 6.0 rebounds. Ewuosho, meanwhile, is averaging 12.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in conference play.
Meanwhile, Battle averages 8.3 points and
AJ Farrar 7.8 in conference play.
In the first meeting between the two, Ewuosho led five players in double figures with 14 points en route to a 65-56 victory in Birmingham. Daniels and Battle each added 13, while
Decardo Day had 11.

Alabama State leads the all-time series with Alabama A&M, 84-30, including sweeping the season series last year. The Hornets have won the last eight in the series and have won nine of the last 11 in the series, including the meeting in Birmingham earlier this season.
