Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 JACKSON, Miss. | Alabama State picked up a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victories Saturday afternoon at the SWAC Pod, as both the men and women defeated Jackson State on the road.

Alabama State (2-3, 1-3) picked up a 4-0 victory over Jackson State on the men's side, taking an early 1-0 lead when they swept the doubles point. They were able to pull away for the win with three singles matches that were all decided in straight sets.

Chris Andre picked up a 7-6, 6-3 victory over Juan Soria at number one singles, before the Hornets picked up another win at the top of the order when Alexis Collard picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory over RIchy Gamo at number two singles.

The Hornets other victory in matches that were concluded came at number four singles where Juan Rodriguez picked up a 6-2, 7-5 victory.

Alabama State returns to action Sunday afternoon against East Tennessee State at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 pm, and admission is free to all home matches.

Meanwhile, the Lady Hornets picked up their second consecutive conference victory of the weekend to stay undefeated. Alabama State (3-3, 2-0 SWAC) dropped the doubles' point before storming back to win four singles matches to record the outright victory over the host Tigers.

Alabama State picked up a win at number one singles when Madalena Andrade defeated Nina Zhang in straight sets 6-2, 7-6; while they Maria Popova won her match at number four singles in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 over Sherine Salem.

Urska Velec won her match at number four (6-3, 6-4), before Bea Acena clinched the match for the Lady Hornets with a 7-6, 6-4 victory at number six singles.

Alabama State returns to action on the road February 27 at Jacksonville State.
