White Scores 26 to Lead @BamaStateWBB over Alcorn

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Freshman Hannah White had a career night shooting the ball, scoring 26 points to lead Alabama State's highest offensive output of the season in a 95-70 Southwestern Athletic Conference win over Alcorn State Monday night at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

White came off the bench and provided a much-needed spark for the Lady Hornets' (8-17, 5-9 SWAC) offense going 5-for-6 from long range – the five makes are the most in a single game by an Alabama State player this season.

The rest of the team fed off that same energy as Jayla Crawford, Aniyah Smith and Ayana Emmanuel scored 20, 17 and 15 points, respectively. Smith was a beast in the paint, collecting a double-double after grabbing 12 boards to go along with her 17 points.

Alabama State's 95 points were the most since scoring 100 on January 6, 2016 in a win over Mississippi Valley State. The Hornets scored 20 in the first and 22 in the second before exploding for 29 in a huge third quarter – overall they shot nearly 50 percent (49.1) from the floor.

Leading the Lady Braves (11-16, 7-6 SWAC) were Cayla Obillo and Jada Hargrove. Obillo scored 17 with four makes from behind the arc, whil Hargrove posted 16 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Alabama State wore special pink uniforms during the game in support of the "Play 4 Kay" initiative, which raises funds for breast cancer awareness each season. For more information on the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, visit kayyow.com.
