HOUSTON, Texas | Alabama State hits the road for a pair of games to close out the road portion of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) schedule in the state of Texas this weekend.
Alabama State (8-19, 7-7 SWAC) begins the series with a contest against Prairie View A&M Saturday afternoon. The game will tip at 5:30 pm and will be carried by the Hornet Sports Network. Alabama State enters the contest on a two-game skid after home losses to Southern and Alcorn State, and look to get back on track on the conference-leading Panthers.
The Hornets and Prairie View A&M (16-11, 12-2 SWAC) faced each other in Montgomery earlier this year, with Alabama State ending a six-game losing streak to the Panthers with a 52-49 win at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome. The win by the Hornets jumpstarted a five-game winning streak for Alabama State.

What to Watch For
Alabama State is currently in sixth place in the SWAC standings with four games remaining on the schedule, with four games against teams ahead of them in standings. Alabama State has games against Texas Southern (Monday), Jackson State (Thursday) and Grambling State (Saturday) remaining on the schedule.
The Hornets sit in a tie with Jackson State, who owns the tiebreaker currently, and is one game back of Grambling State for fifth place in the conference. Alabama State will need some help to get into a chance to vie for the fourth spot, as Alcorn State (9-6 SWAC) and Southern (10-5 SWAC) each own the tiebreaker over Alabama State.
Tobi Ewuosho continues to lead Alabama State in scoring at 13.1 points per game and in rebounding at 6.1 points per game. The senior is currently sitting at 765 career points, 428 career rebounds and 105 career assists. Meanwhile,
Leon Daniels is averaging 9.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Hornets.
In conference play, Daniels 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds, while Ewuosho is averaging 12.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
Junior
Jacoby Ross enters the game with 892 career points, averaging 6.2 points per game this season. He recorded his first career double-double on the road against Mississippi Valley State with 26 points and 11 rebounds two weeks ago.
