Box Score 2 JACKSONVILLE, Ala. | Alabama State returned to non-conference action this week, falling to Jacksonville State in a pair of matches Friday afternoon.
The Alabama State women (3-4) dropped a 5-2 decision despite winning the doubles' point to start the match. The Lady Hornets were able to capture the point after winning two of the three matches and leading the third when the point was decided. The number two team of
Bea Acena and
Urska Velec claimed a 6-3 win at number two doubles, while the team of
Madalena Andrade and
Maria Popova picked up a 6-3 win at number three doubles.
Acena completed her perfect day for Alabama State, winning the lone singles' match for the Lady Hornets at number four singles. She defeated Balsen Kaya in straight sets 6-3, 7-5 to pick up the second and final point for Alabama State - coming back from down 5-2 in the second set.
