MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Birmingham to face Samford this afternoon and looking to win their second consecutive match.
Alabama State (1-1) looks to win back-to-back matches this afternoon after pushing past Point 5-2 in their second match of the season Monday. The Hornets picked up victories in four of the six singles matches beginning at number three singles, while also capturing the doubles point by winning two of the three matches.
The Hornets and Samford met last season in Birmingham, with the Bulldogs coming out on top 5-2.
Alexis Collard was one of the two players to pick up victories in the match last season, winning in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) at number three singles. The match is the first of two this weekend, with Alabama State hosting Columbus State Sunday afternoon at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
The match this afternoon begins at 2 pm.
