@BamaStateMBB closes regular season with pair of games beginning Thursday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State closes out the regular season at home with a pair of games beginning Thursday with Jackson State at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

The Hornets and Jackson State will tip at 7:30 pm, while they will also face Grambling State Saturday afternoon on Senior Day beginning at 5 pm. Both games will be carried by the Hornet Sports Network.

Alabama State (8-21, 7-9 SWAC) dropped games to both teams to open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play in January by a combined eight points. They dropped a 70-67 contest to Jackson State and fell 68-63 on the road at Grambling State.

What to Watch For
Alabama State is currently in seventh place in the SWAC standings with two games remaining on the schedule against teams ahead of them in standings. Alabama State has games against Jackson State (Thursday) and Grambling State (Saturday) remaining on the schedule.

The Hornets sit one game back of Jackson State, who owns the tiebreaker currently. Alabama State will need some help to get move into sixth in the conference standings, as they will need to beat Jackson State by four or more and then get some help with an Alabama A&M win on Saturday.

Tobi Ewuosho continues to lead Alabama State in scoring at 12.8 points per game and in rebounding at 6.0 points per game. The senior is currently sitting at 783 career points, 437 career rebounds and 108 career assists. Meanwhile, Leon Daniels is averaging 9.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Hornets.

In conference play, Ewuosho is averaging 11.7 points and 5.9 rebounds, while Daniels is at 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds through 16 conference games.

Tyrese Robinson had a big week last week on the road for Alabama State, grabbing a career-high and a team season-high 15 rebounds against regular season champion Prairie View A&M; and followed that up with 15 points and eight rebounds against Texas Southern on ESPNU Monday night,

Junior Jacoby Ross enters the game with 911 career points, averaging 6.7 points per game this season. He recorded his first career double-double on the road against Mississippi Valley State with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
