Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Alabama State won their 27th consecutive match in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, picking up a 4-1 win over Alabama A&M on the road Saturday afternoon.
Alabama State (3-5, 2-0 SWAC) picked up the doubles point with a pair of hard-fought 6-4 victories at the top two positions. The number one team of
Juan Rodriguez and
Chris Andre picked up win over Panji Setiawan and Cheng Chang Yang, while the number two team of
Luka Markovic and
Alex-Antoine Marquis picked up a win at number two doubles.
The Hornets also picked up three wins, including a 7-5, 6-4 victory by Andre at number two singles. Alabama State also picked up wins at number five (Markovic 6-4, 6-3) and six (
Alejo Calvis 6-3, 6-7, 6-0) to clinch the match.
Alabama State returns to action Sunday at North Alabama in Florence (Ala.)
