MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State head men's basketball coach
Mo Williams announced the fourth signee for the upcoming season Wednesday afternoon, with the addition of
Jordan O'Neal to the program.
"
Jordan O'Neal is an athletic forward who brings size and length to our front court," Williams said. "He is an athletic forward who attacks the rim on offense and has a knack for blocking shots on the defensive end. He is a high character player that will excel both on and off the court. We are excited to welcome Jordan to the Hornet family."
Last season at Coahoma, O'Neal played in 17 games, all starts, averaging 13.9 points per game as a freshman. He averaged 27.8 minutes per game, including playing a season-high 37 minutes against Northwest (1/9/20) and played 30-plus minutes eight times.
He finished the year shooting 52.7 (88-of-167) percent from the floor and 50.0 (5-of-10) percent from beyond the arc. He also shot 56.1 (55-of-98) percent from the free throw line during his lone season at Coahoma. O'Neal also averaged 5.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game last season, recording one-double-double.
O'Neal scored a season-high 29 points against Northwest (1/9/20) and scored 20 against Arkansas Baptist College (12/2/19) in just his second career game. He finished with double figures in 12 of the 17 games he played in last season, while grabbing double-digit rebounds on time – recording 11 against Arkansas Baptist (12/2/19). He grabbed seven or more rebounds eight times last season and recorded three or more blocked shots eight times – including five twice.
A native of Mobile (Ala.), O'Neal played his prep basketball at Theodore High School.
