MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State released the 2021 baseball schedule featuring 24 home games and six weekend series at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex Friday afternoon.

Alabama State, who was 14-4 when the season ended in March last season, opens the season in New Orleans with three games at the MLB Classic, including the season-opener against New Orleans on February 19. They will also face Grambling State (February 20) and Prairie View A&M (February 21) on the season's opening weekend.

Following a mid-week game at Samford (February 23), the Hornets play their first home series against Eastern Michigan beginning on February 26. The two will play a three-game set at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex, with games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday following the opener. Alabama State hits the road for a non-conference contest against Alabama (March 2) following the series.

The Hornets open a 13-game homestand the following weekend, opening Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play against Jackson State (March 5-7). They will face Samford (March 10), Eastern Illinois (March 16-17), and Troy (March 24) during the homestand. Alabama State faces a pair of conference foes during the homestand beginning with Mississippi Valley State (March 19-21) and Alcorn State (March 26-28).

They will continue the season with a mid-week game against Florida A&M (March 30) before their first SWAC road trip of the season to face Alabama A&M (April 1-3). The Hornets return home for a pair of mid-week games against North Alabama (April 6) and Jacksonville State (April 7) before a road trip to Jackson State (April 9-11).

Following another mid-week game against Florida A&M (April 13) at home, the Hornets host Grambling State (April 16-18) in a non-conference series and South Alabama (April 20). They hit the road for a seven-game stretch featuring games against Mississippi Valley State (April 23-25), North Alabama (April 27), and Alcorn State (May 1-3).

The Hornets close the season with a three-game series against Alabama A&M (May 7-9) and close out the regular season on the road against Troy (May 11) and Jacksonville State (May 12).
