Alabama State comes away with pair of wins on final day of Track Kat Klash, finishes 10th overall

HOUSTON, Texas | Alabama State picked up a pair of wins on the final day of the Track Kat Klash, including one over a nationally ranked opponent to finish 10th in the highly competitive tournament.

The Lady Hornets opened the final day with a 4-1 victory over Valparaiso, a team receiving votes in the NTCA poll, by jumping out on top 3-0. They took the early lead with a 70-pin win in game one, before a six-pin win followed by a five-pin win. After Valparaiso won game four, the Lady Hornets put the match away with a 210-185 win in the fifth and deciding game.

Alabama State followed that up with a 4-3 victory over No. 22 Prairie View A&M to move along in the bracket play competition. The Lady Hornets and Prairie View A&M split the first four games before Prairie View A&M took a 3-2 lead. Alabama State won the final two games of the match to move on in bracket play, including a 198-148 win in game six and a 247-177 win in game seven.

The Lady Hornets dropped their final match of the tournament to No. 18 Lincoln Memorial, 4-2, despite winning the first two games of the match (226-213 and 211-188). Lincoln Memorial was able to win the final four games to take the match.

ABOUT EMERALD BOWL
Emerald Bowl has been home to some significant events in NCAA history, with the very first women's bowling championships in 2004 played at the facility where Nebraska defeated Central Missouri. In 2006, the championships returned to Emerald Bowl when Fairleigh Dickinson defeated Alabama A&M.
