MONTGOMERY, Ala. |Â Alabama State used a balanced scoring attack along with a big second quarter run to pull away from Mobile 79-44 at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets had five players in double figures led by
DaKiyah Sanders (Birmingham, Ala.) and
Tamia Stallings (Brookhaven, Miss.) with 14 points each in the win. Stallings added seven rebounds and a steal in the game, while Sanders grabbed six rebounds and dished out a team-high four assists.

Shmya Ward (Memphis, Tenn.) added 12 points and six rebounds in 21 minutes of play in her first action of the season, while
Jada Nneji (Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada) and
Jayla Crawford (Birmingham, Ala.) rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 points and 10 points respectively in the win.

After a tight first quarter ending with Alabama State leading 19-14, the Hornets broke the game open in the second quarter dominating in the paint shooting 68.2 (15-of-22) percent from the field in the frame and outscoring the Rams 34-8. Alabama State forced Mobile into seven turnovers, converting into 12 points while also scoring 22 points in the paint and eight second chance points to head into halftime leading 53-22.

Alabama State ended the night shooting a season-best 51.6 (32-of-62) percent from the floor. They also shot 27.3 (3-of-11) percent from beyond the arc, while hitting 77.8 (14-of-18) percent from the free throw line.
The Hornets won every statistical category in the matchup, outrebounding the Rams 44-19, while adding a 42-20 advantage in the paint and outscoring the Ram bench 36-11. Alabama State also led in second chance points (15-4), fast break points (16-8), and points off turnovers (22-15).
Sydney Sims led the Rams offensively as their lone double figure scorer with 15 points along with three assists on the afternoon.
