MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Tennessee Tech scored a pair of runs in each the third and sixth innings to pull away from Alabama State 5-1 at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex in the nightcap of day two in the Stinger Classic.
Alabama State (0-3) took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after
Madison Myers scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a leadoff single. She stole second and moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt from
Kindall DeRamus, before scoring on the wild pitch.
But it was all Tennessee Tech (2-1) from there as they pulled away with three runs combined in the sixth and seventh innings. The Lady Hornets were held to three hits by Haeli Bryson with
Alex Massie and
Jamaica Flowers each picking up a hit in the loss.
Alabama State returns to action Sunday morning against Notre Dame at 9 am, with each game of the tournament carried on the Hornet Sports Network.
Only those listed on the player pass list will be allowed inside the Barbara Williams Softball Complex this season due to social distant seating and COVID-19 protocols. No tickets will be sold at any time for the venue, and masks are mandatory while visiting the Alabama State University campus and its athletic venues.
