MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State dropped its final game of the Black & Gold Tournament Sunday afternoon, falling to Evansville 5-1 at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.

The two teams were scoreless through three until Evansville was able to put three on the board in the fourth, and one in each the fourth and fifth innings. Alabama State got on the board in sixth on an Alex Massie single that scored Morgan Gaither to trim the lead to four.

Jazmine Dodd and Jaeda Gardner each picked up a hit, along with Massie and Gaither in the loss.

Skyler Sullivan (1-3) suffered the loss for Alabama State, working 5.0 innings and allowing four runs on nine hits with four strikeouts. Madison Myers came in for the final two innings and allowed one run off three hits in relief.

Bella Coffey led Evansville (2-2) at the plate, finishing the day 3-for-4 with a solo home run. Meanwhile, Mea Adams finished 3-for-3 with a run scored and RBI, while Macey Harrington added a pair of hits for the Purple Aces.

Izzy Vetter (1-1) picked up the win, working 5.0 innings and allowing just two hits and striking out 10.

The home loss was the last home game for Alabama State until a March 4 doubleheader against Tuskegee.
