MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State battled UAB tight for the first 45 minutes of the match before the Blazers scored a pair of goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to pull away for an 8-1 win at the ASU Soccer Complex Sunday night.

UAB was able to get on the board first when Morgan Halliwill pushed a shot into the lower left corner of the goal just four minutes into the match for a 1-0 Blazers' lead. Alabama State was able to answer in the 10th minute when Rylee Stoehner hit a shot into the upper corner to tie the match at 1-all.

The Blazers were able to add another before the half to take a 2-1 lead, before adding six more in the second for the final margin.

Alabama State (0-2) returns to action March 5 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play against UAPB at the ASU Soccer Complex. Kick is scheduled for 6 pm.

Fans are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs to the ASU Soccer Complex and to enter the complex on the West side and not behind the team's benches, remaining socially distant. Masks must be worn at all times throughout the contest as Alabama State University and its athletic facilities are mask mandatory.
