MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Despite falling down early to North Dakota, Alabama State rallied to end a four-game losing streak with an 11-2 victory at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex Wednesday night.
North Dakota jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Alabama State put up 11 unanswered runs highlighted by a seven-run fourth inning. Before their big inning, Alabama State was able to tie the game in the third on an RBI groundout by
Morgan Gaither and an RBI single by
Jazmine Dodd.
They took the lead when
Destinee Dixon was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the fourth, taking a 3-2 lead. They added to the lead with bases-loaded walk to
Alex Massie before
Kindall DeRamus drove in a pair with a double to left to stretch the lead to 6-2. Dodd drove in a pair with a single before Gaither scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 9-2 after four.
The Lady Hornets were able to end the game in the sixth on a two-run double by
Kat McGlamry for the final margin.
Dodd finished the day 3-for-4 with three runs batted in, while DeRamus finished the night 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.
Skyler Sullivan (4-5) worked six innings and allowed two runs (just one earned) on seven hits and recorded a pair of strikeouts.
