MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State stretched their Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) unbeaten streak to four and recorded their second shutout in three matches, defeating Alcorn State 4-0 at the ASU Soccer Complex Sunday afternoon.
Alabama State (3-2-1, 3-0-1 SWAC) recorded 24 shots during the contest with 14 on goal, while holding Alcorn State to just one shot overall. The Lady Hornets also recorded nine corner kicks in the match and held Alcorn State without one.
McKenna Wiscombe, one of seven seniors honored prior to the match, scored the first of her two goals in the 15th minute when she took an assist off the foot of
Grace Norbury for the early 1-0 lead. She added her second goal of the match in the 28th minute when she scored off an assist from
Teaggan Ilela for a 2-0 lead.
Alabama State took a 3-0 lead into the break when
Kassandra Schoen scored off a pass from
Paige Patton in the 33rd minute. The final goal of the match came from Ilela when she scored on an assist from
Kaitlyn Sampson in the 65th minute.
