BATON ROUGE, La. | Alabama State finds their bats as they end a two-game losing streak with a 10-2 victory at Southern Friday afternoon.

Alabama State (6-17) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second after Kaley Anthony hit a two-run homer also bringing in Alex Massie on the play, before Southern (2-16) responded to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom half of the inning.

The game broke open in the next frame, as Alabama State put up eight unanswered runs highlighted by six in the third inning. Jaeda Gardner drove in two runs on a single with the bases loaded to start the scoring barrage, while Massie and Jamaica Flowers also knocked in a run apiece before taking the field in the top of the fourth up 8-2.

After scoring a run in both the fourth and fifth innings, the Lady Hornets were able to end the game in five after Skyler Sullivan (7-6) retired the side, forcing fly outs from all three batters to conclude the contest.

Massie finished the day 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while Gardner finished the day with a hit, pair of runs scored and two runs batted in. Sullivan pitched all five innings and allowed two runs on just four hits while facing 23 batters.
