MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns home Saturday afternoon, hosting Belmont Saturday afternoon at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm. No fans will be allowed inside the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center for the match due to socially distant seating. Alabama State University is a mask mandatory campus, including all of its athletic venues.
Alabama State (5-3, 3-0 SWAC) enters the match after winning three consecutive conference matches to open up Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, dropping just two points over the weekend. The Hornets last played at home February 3 against Mercer after opening with three consecutive home matches.
Assil Boussayri leads Alabama State in singles play with a 5-2 record, winning all five matches at number three singles and enters the weekend after back-to-back wins.
Ruan Du Preez is 4-3 on the season, all at number two singles, while a trio of players –
Chris Andre,
Alejo Calvis and
Juan Rodriguez – have each won three matches.
In doubles play, Boussayri and Du Preez lead Alabama State with a 5-3 record, while Andre and Rodriguez have won three this season.
