FLORENCE, Ala. | Alabama State dropped a pair of non-conference games to North Alabama Saturday afternoon, falling 7-0 in the opener and 16-2 in the nightcap.
North Alabama 7, Alabama State 0
North Alabama jumped on top in the second with a pair of runs, before adding two more in the fourth and sixth innings to expand the lead.
The Lady Hornets were held to three hits in the opener with
Jaeda Gardner,
Alex Massie, and
Kaley Anthony each picking up a hit in the loss.
Skyler Sullivan (3-5) suffered the loss, working 3.0 innings and allowed a pair of runs off of four hits, before giving way to
Blair Mims who made her debut with 3.0 innings of work.
North Alabama 16, Alabama State 2
North Alabama was able to put the game away early with 12 runs in the first inning of the nightcap. Alabama State scored a pair of runs in the second on a two-run home run off the bat of
Destinee Dixon, who finished the day with 1-for-2.
The Lady Hornets pounded out eight hits in the finale, with Massie picking up a couple.
