MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns to action for the first time in two weeks when they hit the Hutsell-Rosen Track on the Auburn campus for the 2021 War Eagle Invitational.
Alabama State will be competing over the weekend with the likes of Auburn, Cincinnati, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Missouri, Samford, Southern Miss, Syracuse, Troy, and UAB (women only).
Alabama State is well-represented inside the top 75 on the women's side, including in the top 50 in the relay competitions so far through 2021. The Lady Hornets are currently ranked 39th overall in the 4x100-meter relay this season with a time of 45.13 seconds and are also 47th overall in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:39.671 run at Auburn earlier this season.
Individually,
Tionna Brown is inside the top 65 in both the 100-meters and 200-meters including 51st overall in the 100-meters with a time of 11.51 seconds. She has also run the 62nd-fastest time in the country in the 200-meters with a time of 23.65 seconds. Meanwhile,
Michaela Lewis is 69th in the nation in the 800-meters with a time of 2:07.90 at Mississippi State.
On the men's side,
Matthew Clarke currently holds the 38th-fastest in the country in the 200-meters after running a time of 20.83 seconds at the 2021 Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays in March. He is also in the top 100 in the 100-meters with a time of 10.50 seconds at the UAB Spring Invitational.
Ulyesses Grace (110-meter hurdles) and
Marcus Cade (long jump) are each in the top 100 of their respective events nationally.
The meet will begin with the women's hammer throw at 2 pm and conclude with the men's 5000-meters Friday night. The meet will continue on Saturday with the women's pole vault at 11 am and conclude with 4x400-meter relay.
