HUNTSVILLE, Ala. |Â Alabama State (14-25, SWAC 9-6) traveled back to Huntsville to complete the three-game series sweep over Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival Alabama A&M 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hornets gained control of the game early with a score from
Madison Myers off a wild pitch for the first run, followed by a two-run home run from
Kaley Anthony to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Alabama State added to their lead with a run in the second as Myers recorded an RBI single to score
Morgan Gaither, while Alabama A&M got on the board in the final inning, to put the score at 4-1 for the final.
Myers led the Hornets on the day, going 3-for-4 from the plate along with scoring a run and recording an RBI, while
Kaley Anthony and
Kindall DeRamus both earned two hits on the day, with Anthony added a score and two RBI.
Skyler Sullivan (14-8) picked up the win for Alabama State, working 7.0 innings in the circle, allowing one run off seven hits and striking out four on the day.
Alabama State will return to action this weekend as they face Alcorn State for a three-game series in Lorman, Mississippi with a doubleheader on Friday and the final game on Saturday afternoon. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 12Â pm.
