Sierra Hobbs named Director of Sports Medicine

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the addition of Sierra Hobbs as the Director of Sports Medicine this week.

She will oversee all aspects of the sports medicine department at the university, the university's relationship with Rehab Associates, and chief liaison to our team doctors.
 
Hobbs comes to Alabama State after a stint as an outreach athletic trainer for VCU Health Sports Medicine in Richmond (Va.), where she provided athletic training services to Virginia Union University. While at Virginia Union, Hobbs provided coverage for multiple sports including football, women's basketball, track and field, cross country, and softball.
 
Prior to VCU Health, she worked as an assistant athletic trainer at Fayetteville State (2018-19), providing coverage for all 12 varsity sports with a primary focus on football and women's basketball. Prior to Fayetteville State, Hobbs was the athletic trainer at San Marino (Calif.) High School, working primarily with football and girls' varsity soccer.
 
A native of Long Beach (Calf.), she earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from North Carolina Central in 2010, graduating with honors, before earning her Master of Science in Kinesiology – with a concentration in Sports Medicine and Injury Studies from California State University Long Beach in 2017, graduating with honors.
 
She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Athletic Training with an emphasis in Leadership Education and Orthopedics at A.T. Still University.
