BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State sophomore defensive back
Irshaad Davis was named to the 2021 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Preseason Starting Lineup announced today by the College Football America Yearbook publication.
Davis led the Hornets with 41 tackles on the season including 31 individual stops. He recorded a pair of tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks in the spring, while also recording an interception along with three pass breakups and a quarterback hurry from his safety spot. Davis finished in the top five in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in tackles and 20th in passes defended, while also being 14th in the country in solo tackles prior to the FCS playoffs.
The sophomore was one of three players selected from an HBCU including conference opponent Jordan Lewis (Southern) on the First Team defense and Dacquari Wilson (North Carolina A&T) on the First Team offense.
