PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Isaiah Range (Cedar Hill, Texas) led five players in double figures on the road Saturday night, but it wasn't enough as Jeremiah Gambrell knocked down a three-pointer with just under four seconds to play to give Prairie View A&M a 70-67 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory.
After the two teams traded baskets with under 40 seconds to play and
Jordan O'Neal (Mobile, Ala.) tying the game up with a lay-up, Gambrell came down for Prairie View A&M and drained a three-pointer from the top of the key. Alabama State got a look at the basket but a three from
Juan Reyna (San Antonio, Texas) missed the mark at the buzzer.
Range led Alabama State (4-14, 3-3 SWAC) with 15 points and six rebounds despite being in foul trouble in the second half.
Trace Young (Owensboro, Ky.) finished with 13 points and six rebounds, while also adding three assists, a pair of steals, and two blocked shots.
Juan Reyna (San Antonio, Texas) and O'Neal each added 11, with O'Neal grabbing six rebounds.
E.J. Clark (Dallas, Texas) finished with 10 points for the Hornets who finished the night shooting 37.5 (24-of-64) percent from the floor and 39.1 (9-of-23) percent from beyond the arc. They finished the night shooting 76.9 (10-of-13) percent from the free throw line.
Gambrell led Prairie View A&M with 26 points, all on three-pointers for the Panthers who finished the night shooting 42.1 (24-of-57) percent from the floor and 47.8 (11-of-23) percent from beyond the arc.

Alabama State returns to action on Monday night against Texas Southern in Houston. The game is scheduled to tip at 7:30 pm.
QUOTES from head coach Mo Williams
"It was a hard-fought game. We played a good team on the road and had an opportunity to win the game. It was one of those games where the last team with the ball was going to have to make a play, they made the play and won the game. They did a good job."
"That is the team we are (five players in double figures). I thought we shared the ball, I thought we did a great job of it. I thought we were prepared to come in and play a great game, and the guys gave the effort. It just came down to a couple plays here and there. They had a guy step up and make eight threes today, they had guys step up. That's not the norm, he makes shots but eight a game – no. He did something he doesn't do."
"We just have to get some rest. We will get some shots up and clean some things up going into Texas Southern and go in there and compete. We will go in there like we do every game, go in there to get a win."
