MONTGOMERY Ala. | Alabama State opens the 2022 season at home on Tuesday afternoon against Troy, with the match scheduled to begin at 1 pm inside the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
There is no admission to the match, however, social distancing and masks are required at all times on the Alabama State University campus.
The Hornets return several players from last year's Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season champions including senior
Chris Andre (Berlin, Germany) and
Ruan Du Preez (Cape Town, South Africa) who helped lead the team to the championship match of the conference tournament. They also return
Kristofer Johnson (Bromley, UK) and
Juan Rodriguez (Concordia, Argentina) to go along with a handful of newcomers.
Alabama State finished undefeated in conference play last season, while also finishing 9-6 overall. The Hornets and Troy met last February with Troy picking up the win, and the two have met six times since 2010.
