Hornets Volleyball Takes Down Alabama A&M To Cruise To Fourth-Straight Victory

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Alabama State women's volleyball team secured their fourth-straight victory and seventh conference win with a 3-1 trouncing of Alabama A&M on Thursday night (Oct. 20).

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Alabama State jumped out to a 15-5 lead midway through the first set and held on to win 25-19 despite a late run from Alabama A&M. 
  • Alabama A&M evened the match score at 1-1 after taking set two, 25-19.
  • The Lady Hornets extended their match advantage to 2-1 after claiming the set three victory, 25-16.  
  • ASU secured their fourth-straight victory with a 25-13 fourth set win and the 3-1 match win over the Lady Bulldogs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Alabama State posted 44 kills on 106 total attacks with an attack percentage of .255 in the win.
  • Alabama A&M registered 43 kills on 114 total attacks and a .175 hit percentage.
  • Kalysia Bates led the way for Alabama State with 15 kills on 24 total attacks for a .500 hit percentage. 
  • Jada Rhodes garnered 10 kills, three digs, and one service ace. 
  • Emily Brooks led ASU's setters with 20 assists and six digs.
  • Brooke Adams recorded 14 assists and seven digs as a setter for the Lady Hornets. 
  • Temperance Chatman, the leading libero for the Lady Hornets, registered 13 digs and one service ace in the win.
