Lady Hornets Win Their Ninth Straight After Taking Down UAPB, 3-1

Prairie View, Texas | In ASU's final match of the SWAC Round Up II, the Alabama State women's volleyball team took down Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 3-1, to clinch the Lady Hornets ninth-straight victory and improve to 15-13 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Alabama State took a 1-0 set advantage after claiming the first frame, 25-20.
  • ASU picked up where they left off in set one after taking the second set, 25-20, and a 2-0 lead.
  • Arkansas-Pine Bluff cut the deficit to one after narrowly winning set three, 25-22.
  • The Lady Hornets emerged victorious after claiming the fourth set with a five-point victory (25-21) to win the match, 3-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • The Lady Hornets totaled 54 kills on 133 total attacks (.233) in the win. 
  • Arkansas-Pine Bluff recorded 47 kills on 131 total attacks for a hit percentage of .221.
  • Jada Rhodes (20), A'Nylah Cobb (13), and Kalysia Bates (11) led the way for the Lady Hornets in kills. Rhodes tallied her fourth-straight match of 14 or more kills.
  • Madison Beasley continues to excel at the setter position after registering 22 assists. This makes eight matches of 20-plus helpers.
  • Temperance Chatman led ASU in digs with 16 in the win.
