Hornets Volleyball Downs Bethune-Cookman to Win Their 10th Straight Match

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. |  Kalysia Bates tallied 11 kills to help power the Alabama State women's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Bethune Cookman on Friday (Nov. 4) inside Moore Gymnasium. Alabama State has now won 10 straight matches and boasts a 13-1 record in conference play this season

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Alabama State got off to a rocky start after Bethune-Cookman took the first frame, 25-22, to jump out to a 1-0 set lead.
  • The Lady Hornets responded with a four-point victory in set two (25-21) to even the set score at one apiece. 
  • ASU took their first lead of the day after trouncing BCU in set three, 25-14, to extend their set advantage to 2-1. 
  • Alabama State claimed their tenth straight win as they downed Bethune-Cookman in set four (25-13) to win the match 3-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Alabama State registered 52 total kills as a team on 133 total attacks (.226) in the win.
  • Bethune-Cookman recorded 38 kills on just 129 attacks for a hit percentage of .070.
  • Kalysia Bates led Alabama State in kills with 11 on 21 total attacks (.286). Bates also posted three solo blocks and a service ace in the win. 
  • A'Nylah Cobb also logged double-digit kills with 10 on 33 total attacks (.121) for ASU.
