JONESBORO, Ark. | A late charge by the Alabama State University men's basketball team came up short in a 72-65 loss to Arkansas State University at First National Bank Arena on Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Eric Coleman and Isaiah Range hit 3-pointers for an early 6-0 Alabama State lead 1:49 into the first half.
- The Hornets used a 7-2 run to take a 15-8 lead after a TJ Madlock layup with 12:03 left in the first half.
- Another 7-2 run put the Hornets up 22-14 lead after Roland McCoy layup with 7:55 to go.
- The Hornets took a 31-27 lead into halftime on a dunk by Duane Posey and an Alex Anderson jumper at the buzzer.
- TJ Madlock's jumper put Alabama State up 36-32 just over three minutes into the second half.
- The Wolves went on a 10-0 run to take a 42-36 lead on an Avery Felts 3-pointer at the 14:23 mark.
- Two Christian McCray free throws cut the Wolves' lead to 42-38.
- Arkansas State's Terrance Ford scored all eight points during an 8-0 ruin to build the lead Wolves' lead to 50-38 with 12:37 remaining in the second half.
- Amarr Knox knocked down a jump shot to get the Hornets within 10 at 52-42.
- The Arkansas State lead grew to 55-42 on a Markis Davis 3-pointer with 11:04 left in the contest.
