MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University Athletics celebrated 26 student-athletes who received their respective degrees during two fall graduation commencement ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022.
Women's Soccer's
Lauriane Castonguay,
Sheila Sanchez and
Kelvin Stokes (Graduate) are set to graduate with a 4.0 GPA while 63 percent or 16 of the 26 graduates have achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher GPA.

"To say we are proud of our graduating student-athletes is an understatement," Alabama State Athletic Director Dr. Jason Cable said. "This is a great accomplishment! It is an accomplishment that is not easy and takes discipline to achieve, Our student-athletes work on the field and in the classroom often times navigating through busy schedules. ASU Athletics wishes our graduates success and we look forward to them returning to campus and giving back to Alabama State. Remember "Pride Never Graduates"!
Alabama State student-athletes graduated at an 83 percent rate during that time, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics had multiple teams graduate 83 percent or more of their student-athletes during that same time period.
Among those programs with an 85 percent or higher GSR score, three sports recorded perfect 100 percent rates – women's bowling, women's golf and women's tennis during the time span. Two other programs – women's soccer, and softball each finished at 96 percent or higher, while women's basketball graduated 91 percent and women's cross country 88 percent of their student-athletes during that time period.
The Graduation Success Rate data shows the percentage of student-athletes earning a degree within six years of entering college. The NCAA developed the Graduation Success Rate to account for student-athletes not tracked by the federal graduation rate, which includes transfers into Alabama State and student-athletes who transferred from Alabama State in good academic standing.
The commencement ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the New ASU Stadium.
