Strawbridge leads Alabama State, snaps four-game losing streak on ESPNU

Alabama State had four players in double figures in the road victory

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | Kenny Strawbridge (Rockford, Ill.) paced four players in double figures and Alabama State missed just nine total shots in the second half, pulling away from Bethune-Cookman for an 89-78 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory in front a sell-out crowd on national television on Monday night.

Strawbridge scored a career-high 28 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor including four three-pointers and knocked down six free throws on the night. At one point in the game, he scored nine straight points to give the Hornets a 53-49 lead with 11:30 to play – a lead the Hornets would not relinquish.

Juan Reyna (San Antonio, Texas) came off the bench to add 15 points, his fourth consecutive double figure game on the road, and E.J. Clark (Dallas, Texas) added 15 on 10-of-11 shooting from the free throw line. Gerald Liddell (Cibolo, Texas) recorded his second consecutive double-double in the win with 10 points and 12 rebounds – his second consecutive game with the same number of rebounds.

Alabama State, who snapped a four-game losing streak with the win, finished the night shooting 56.9 (29-of-51) percent from the floor including 64.0 (16-of-25) percent from the second half. They also shot 47.6 (10-of-21) percent from beyond the arc and 80.8 (21-of-26) percent from the free throw line.

Joe French led Bethune Cookman with 25 points.
