MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Just two days after its last non-conference match, Alabama State is set to host North Alabama at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center on Friday.
The match is scheduled to begin at 2 pm and admission is free to all home tennis matches. Masks are required on the campus of Alabama State University and inside its athletic facilities, along with social distancing.
The Match
- Alabama State and North Alabama have met seven times since the 2013 season with the Hornets holding a slim 4-3 advantage after a win (4-3) last season.
- The two teams have split their last two meetings, winning by identical 4-3 scores following a sweep by Alabama State during the 2019 season (7-0).
- The Lions hold the longest winning streak in the series, winning back-to-back matches during the 2015-16 season.
Last Time Out
- Alabama State dropped a 4-1 decision to VCU on Wednesday afternoon at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center and are looking for their first win at home in three matches.
- VCU captured the doubles' point with wins at number two and three, while Alabama State picked up a win at number one with a 7-6 win by the team of Chris Andre (Berlin, Germany) and Juan Rodriguez (Concordia, Argentina).
- The Hornets' lone point came at number two singles on a 6-2, 6-3 victory by Samrakshyak Bajracharya (Katmandu, Nepal).
