BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Kyana Evans (Detroit, Mich.) led Alabama State in their final regular season meet at the Jaguar Invitational with the fastest time of the season in conference in the 200-meters.
Evans finished in a time of 24.59 seconds in the event, running a personal best and beating the previous mark in the conference run by Ilyria Johns (24.85) of Florida A&M. The finish was one of three top three finishes for Alabama State on the day in the meet.
Vinnelle Grant (Amityville, N.Y.) ran the second-fastest time in the conference, finishing third, in the 400-meters with a time of 56.96 seconds; while
Shamia Jones (Albany, Ga.) ran the fastest time in the conference in the 800-meters with a third-place finish in a time of 2:12.53.
Ulani Toussaint (Miami, Fla.) finished eighth in a time of 7.71 seconds in the 60-meter dash, while
Taranique Alexander (Miami, Fla.) finished ninth in the long jump with a distance of 5.45 meters.
Matthew Clarke (Six Roads, Barbados) had the best finish of the day for the Hornets, finishing seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.78 seconds; while
Justus Trainer (Saraland, Ala.) finished in the top 10 in the 60-meters on the men's side with a time of 6.92 (6.915) seconds.
