MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road to face Samford on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action beginning at 2 pm. The match will be the first of two in three days on the road for Alabama State.
Alabama State (5-6) has won three of their last four matches including a non-conference win at home over Southern Miss back on March 6. The Hornets had their three-match winning streak stopped by Mercer on the road on Sunday (6-1) and are 1-3 in their four road matches on the season.
Matis Amier (Epernay, France) leads the team in singles play with a 6-2 record including a perfect 3-0 mark in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. He has a perfect 5-0 record at number six singles and has picked one win at number four singles on the season. Meanwhile,
David Jeanne Grandinot (Lisieux, France) has a 4-1 record in singles play including winning all three of his conference matches.
Samrakshyak Bajracharya (Katmandu, Nepal) has recorded five wins in singles play and
Kristofer Johnson (Bromley, UK) has three. In doubles play, five different pairings have won two matches.
Meanwhile, Samford (3-9) enters the match having lost their last two matches to Lipscomb and Drake, with the last coming this past Saturday at home.
