MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State split a pair of matches against West Alabama on Tuesday at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center with the men winning 4-1 and the women dropping a 4-1 decision. The Hornets close out the regular season at home this weekend.
How it Happened (Men's Tennis)
- Alabama State (10-6) dropped the doubles point with losses at number one and two, with the team of Chris Andre (Berlin, Germany) and Kristofer Johnson (Bromley, UK) dropping a 7-6 match at number one.
- The team of David Jeanne Grandinot (Lisieux, France) and Matis Amier (Epernay, France) won their match at number three doubles, 6-0.
- In singles play, Samrakshyak Bajracharya (Kathmandu, Nepal) won a 6-4, 6-2 match at number two, while Grandinot claimed a 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 thriller at number four to clinch the match.
- Amier and Johnson each won their matches at number and six to help in the win.
How it Happened (Women's Tennis)
- Alabama State (10-9) dropped the doubles point with losses at number one and two, while the number three team was still on the court when the point was decided.
- West Alabama got victories at number one and two, while Lizaveta Demchenko (Mogilev, Belarus) won her match at number three singles over Haina Franco 6-2, 6-3. Two other matches were on the court when the match was decided including Francesca Duca (Ploiesti, Romania) at number where the match was 0-6, 6-2, 3-2.
