JACKSON, Miss. | Alabama State dropped the first game of a doubleheader 6-5 before the second game of the day was suspended in the 10th inning with the two teams tied at 4-all. The game will be made up at a later date after rain entered the area.
In game one of the doubleheader, Alabama State (16-23, 8- SWAC) had their chances to put the game away before Jackson State was able to put four on the board to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth and hold on for the win. The Hornets looked to build a lead in the top of the fourth on a line drive to left before a play at the plate ended the inning and looked to put the game away in the bottom of the sixth on a close play at first on a double play attempt that went the over way.
Kindall DeRamus (Helena, Ala.) led the Hornets in game one as she was one of four players to pick up a pair of hits in the loss, finishing 2-for 3 with an RBI.
Destinee Dixon (Bullard, Texas) finished 2-for-4 with three RBI on a pair of extra base hits, while
Alex Preston (Stockton, Calif.) finished 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Meanwhile,
Bailey Greenlee (Snohomish, Wash.) finished 2-for-2 with a run scored.
Greenlee (9-11) started the game and left with the lead before coming back on in the sixth with the bases loaded, suffering the loss. She finished the day with four innings pitched and allowed three runs on seven hits.
Before the second game was suspended, DeRamus and Dixon picked up a pair of hits, while
Jaeda Gardner (Pike Road, Ala.) picked up a pair and scored a run.

- B2 | Isabel Gusman put Jackson State on the board with a solo home run down the left field line (1-0, Jackson State).
- T3 | Destinee Dixon (Bullard, Texas) doubled to right center to score both Jazmine Dodd (Bentonville, Ark.) and Bailey Greenlee (Snohomish, Wash.) to take the lead (2-1, Alabama State).
- B4 | Lauren Stewart led off the inning with a solo home run (2-2).
- T5 | Dixon hit a solo home run to left before Arianna Atchley (Millbrook, Ala.) and Alex Preston (Stockton, Calif.) pulled off the double steal (4-2, Alabama State).
- T6 | DeRamus hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Jaeda Gardner (Pike Road, Ala.) to pus h the lead to three (5-2, Alabama State).
- B6 | Zoey Keyes singled to left to score two runs before Mari Stephens singled to left to tie the game. Takiya Hill reached on a fielder's choice tto give Jackson State the lead (6-5, Jackson State).

- T1 | Dixon hit her second home run of the day (1-0, Alabama State).
- B4 | Monica Serrano singled to center before Stephens reached on an error allowing a run to score (2-1, Jackson State).
- T5 | DeRamus doubled home a pair of runs before Jazmine Dodd (Bentonville, Ark.) singled to right to drive in another (4-2, Alabama State).
- B6 | Samiyya Huckabee singled to center to drive in a run before Stewart tripled in another (4-4).
