GAINESVILLE, Fla. | After the final day of the 2022 Florida Pepsi Relays was delayed due to storms on Saturday, the sprinters on the men's side recorded a pair of top ten finishes.
Matthew Clarke (Six Roads, Barbados) led the way in the 100-meters, running in the fastest heat of the day, finishing eighth overall with a time of 10.55 seconds and finishing just 0.05 seconds behind three different runners. He finished behind Guinove Joanus (Clemson) at 10.50 seconds, as well as Rodney Heath, Jr. (Kentucky) and Cameron Rose (Clemson) at 10.51 seconds.
Meanwhile, the 4x100-meter relay team on the men's side finished seventh overall with a time of 41.66 finishing behind Rutgers at 41.02 seconds.
Result (Men)
- Clarke finished 20th overall in the 200-meters with a time of 21.00 seconds, finishing behind Kenny Benton of Indiana with a time of 20.97 and Joshua Paige of Georgetown with a time of 20.96 seconds.
- Marcus Cade (Thomaston, Ga.) finished 14thh overall in the long jump contested on Friday with 6.95 meters. He finished just behind Victor Steiner at 6.98 meters.
Results (Women)
- The 4x100-meter relay team finished 11th in a time of 46.56 seconds, finishing behind Hampton at 10th overall with a time of 46.19 and Vanderbilt at 46.18 seconds.
- Kyana Evans led the event off for Alabama State on Friday with a 20th place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.71 seconds, finishing behind Central Florida's Selena Wright. She was the 17th overall collegiate runner to cross the line.
- Ulani Toussaint (Miami, Fla.) finished 20th overall in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.24 seconds. She finished behind Ameenah Saalih of Howard (12.14) and was 19th overall collegiate to cross the line.
- Shamia Jones (Albany, Ga.) finished 24hh overall in the 800-meters with a time of 2:10.40, finishing behind Bryanna Lucas of Kentucky (2:10.26) and Leah Disher of Clemson (2:10.20).
- The 4x400-meter relay team closed out the competition for Alabama State with a time of 3:45.20 and finished seventh overall. They finished just behind Vanderbilt at 3:44.32 and Charlotte at 3:43.29.
