MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State closed out the weekend with a pair of 7-0 sweeps in non-conference play over Spring Hill at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center, closing out a weekend of four matches in three days.
Alabama State (9-6) won their fourth consecutive match and fourth non-conference match of the season, while also winning its seventh match in eight tries (only loss came on the road at Mercer) on the men's side.
How it Happened
- Alabama State clinched the doubles' point with a pair of wins at number two and three, with the number three team of David Jeanne Grandinot (Lisieux, France) and Matis Amier (Epernay, France) clinching the point with a 6-4 win. The number two doubles team was the first off the court to set the stage for clinching when Ruan Du Preez (Cape Town, South Africa) and Samrakshyak Bajracharya (Kathmandu, Nepal) won their match 6-2.
- In singles play, Alabama State swept through all six matches with Du Preez clinching the match at number one with a 6-3, 6-0 over Fergus O'Rourke.
- Each of the six matches were won in straight sets with Alabama State dropping just 18 total points out of 90 points played on the day. Kristofer Johnson (Bromley, UK) won his match at number six over Lezan Koyuncu 6-1, 6-0; while Grandinot won his match at number four 6-2, 6-1.

Alabama State returns to action on April 12 on the men's side against West Alabama at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 pm and will be a doubleheader.
