Alabama State sweeps Spring Hill to close out the weekend

Hornets win both matches in shutout fashion on Sunday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State closed out the weekend with a pair of 7-0 sweeps in non-conference play over Spring Hill at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center, closing out a weekend of four matches in three days.

Alabama State (10-7) has won six of their eight matches at home following Sunday's play and has won three of its last four matches.

How it Happened (Women's Tennis)
  • Alabama State clinched the doubles' point early before sweeping through all three matches to jump ahead 1-0 in the overall match. Two of the teams – number one and number three were each won 6-0 with the number one team of Ana Tarbujaru (Ramnicu Valcea, Romania) and Anja Hribljan (Novi Sad, Serbia) winning their match second to clinch the point.
  • The number three team of Sahra Bouchaala (Aix-En-Provence, France) and Timothee Legaud (Severac, France) won their match at number three to get the day started, while the team of urska Velec (Maribor, Slovenia) and Bea Acena (Dubai, UAE) won their match at number two, 6-1.
  • In singles play, the match was clinched when Francesca Duca (Ploiesti, Romania) won her match at number three singles over Johanna Winkler 6-0, 6-0.
  • Legaud won her match at number four singles over Nicole Barron 6-0, 6-0 to finish off a perfect day in both singles and doubles – not dropping a point.
  • The Hornets won four other matches dropping just eight total points.
Up Next
Alabama State returns to action on April 12 on the men's side against West Alabama at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 pm and will be a doubleheader. The women return to action on April 10 against Southern Miss at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center with the match scheduled to begin at 10 am.
