BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State had a pair of top five finishes and another top 15 finishes at the UAB Green & Invitational and Multis on Friday. The Hornets return to action on Saturday in Birmingham.

Result (Men)

• Xavier Clarke (Miramar, Fla.) finished second in the long jump with a distance of 6.81 meters, while Marcus Cade (Thomaston, Ga.) finished third overall with a jump of 6.78 meters.

Results (Women)

• Shamia Jones (Albany, Ga.) led the way for Alabama State on the track with a seventh-place finish in the 1500-meters with a time of 4:46.64.
• Dasia Newell (Clinton, Md.) finished 14th overall in the javelin with a throw of 26.41 meters.
