I was notified today of the passing of former Alabama State University track and field coach, Horace Crump. 

Coach Crump was an ASU alumnus who was a track athlete and a member of the Hornets football team from 1963-1967. 

Coach Crump became an ASU legend who is credited with building the track and field program almost from scratch. He served as head coach for more than 30 years before retiring in 2008 and was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 2009. 

While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the life and legacy of Coach Horace Crump. I ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
