Lady Hornets Suffer Their Second Straight Road Loss

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - In their second road match of the season, the Alabama State University (ASU) women's soccer team fell short to the Lipscomb University Bison (LU) in an 8-0 loss on September 2, 2022, inside the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.

When asked about his team's performance Head Coach Jodie Smith had this to say, "We just had a tough time adjusting to their speed of play. They made us pay for our mistakes around the goal but I know we'll take this experience and learn from it." 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Kale'a Perry powered Lipscomb to an early 2-0 lead after netting goals in the eighth and 17th minute. 
  • Molly Grant followed up 10 minutes later with a goal in the 27th minute on an assist from Marcella Cash to extend Lipscomb's lead to 3-0.
  • Marcella Cash picked up her second assist of the game in the 32nd minute after Bailey Oetinger netted a goal to put the Bison up 4-0.
  • The Bison extended their advantage to 5-0 in the 36th minute on a score from Evee Reeder.
  • Bailey Oetinger tallied her second goal of the night in the 48th minute to give LU a 6-0 advantage.
  • Molly Grant and Ashley Witucki capped off the scoring effort for the Bison after scoring goals in the 56th and 69th minute to secure the 8-0 win at home
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Sheila Sanchez recorded a season-high nine saves on the night in goal for the Lady Hornets. 
  • McKinley Hacker shot a team-high two shots with one on goal.
  • The Lady Hornets tallied a season-low five shots with just two on goal for the night. 
  • Lipscomb managed 23 shots with 17 on target.
  • Sydney Jones tallied two saves for the Bison. 
  • Briana Sites, Grace Norbury, and Brooklyn Broderick registered shots for ASU on the night.
