ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Alabama State women's volleyball team picked up their fourth-straight victory as they cruised to a 3-0 sweep over Mississippi Valley. The win marks the second-straight season the Hornets start conference play 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET ONE

• Alabama State hit the ground running as they jumped out with a 5-0 scoring run. The run included three early kills from Kalysia Bates. 
• The Lady Hornets added on three more scores to extend their early advantage to seven (8-1) over the Delta Devils. 
• ASU committed a service error but quickly responded with another 5-0 rally to jump in front 13-2.
• Mahogany Vinson tallied two kills during a 4-0 run to increase ASU's lead to 17-3. 
• MVSU was able to put together a 5-1 streak to cut the deficit to 18-8.
• Alabama State close out the first set by outsourcing MVSU 7-2 to win 25-10 and extend their set score to 1-0.

SET TWO

• Alabama State jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the second set behind kills from A'Nylah Cobb, Kaylah Jackson and Kalysia Bates. 
• MVSU pulled within one (7-6) early in the second frame. 
• Alabama State tacked on three more scores to extend their advantage to 11-7.
• A'Nylah Cobb tallied four-straight kills for Alabama State to put the Hornets out in front 15-10.
• Jada Rhodes fired in three more kills for ASU to give her team the 18-12 lead.
• ASU put together a 5-0 rally to jump out in front by 10 points (22-12).
• Jada Rhodes and Mahogany Vinson combined for two kills followed by an MVSU error to give ASU the 25-15 set two win.

SET THREE

• Emily Brooks opened set three with a service ace followed by kills from A'Nylah Cobb and Jada Rhodes to give ASU a 6-2 advantage.
• Both teams traded scores before ASU went on a 5-0 scoring run to open up a 13-4 lead midway through set three. 
• The Lady Hornets finished on a dominating 12-3 run to finish set three and secure the sweep with a 25-7 victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The Lady Hornets recorded 42 total kills with an attack percentage of .457, while Mississippi Valley tallied eight kills on 68  total attacks.
• A'Nylah Cobb led the Lady Hornets in kills with 14 followed by Jada Rhodes with 13 kills to add to the win.
• Cobb also led ASU in digs with a game-high 11 against MVSU. 
• Emily Brooks handed out a match-high 24 assists at setter for ASU.
• Temperance Chatman and Emily Brooks both tallied three service aces apiece for Alabama State.
