Lady Hornets Drop The Final Match of the Colorado State Invitational to Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - In the final match of the Colorado State Invitational, the Alabama State University (ASU) women's volleyball team dropped their seventh match in a row as they fell to Colorado State (CSU) 3-0 on September 3, 2022, inside Moby Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite four kills from Kalysia Bates in the first set, CSU claimed the first set with a 25-14 victory. CSU finished the set on a 3-0 run.
  • ASU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second set behind two more kills from Kalysia Bates.
  • The Lady Hornets held a 13-8 lead in the second set but CSU held on to secure a narrow 25-23 lead and extended their lead to 2-0 for the match.
  • CSU dominated the third set behind five kills from Kennedy Stanford to push the Rams to a 25-8 victory and the win in straight sets.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Alabama State hit .129 as a team compared to CSU's .420 hit percentage. 
  • Kalysia Bates hit a team-high .474 with 11 kills to lead ASU. Bates also registered two solo blocks on the day.
  • Madison Beasley led the way in assists for the Lady Hornets with 13 assists and four digs. 
  • Kennedy Stanford registered a team-high 10 kills and four digs while hitting .30 for CSU.
  • Barrett Power recorded a game-high 22 assists and two digs for the Rams.
