Hornets Volleyball Falls On The Road to North Alabama, 3-0

FLORENCE, Ala. - Despite nine kills from Kalysia Bates, the Alabama State University (0-8) women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to the University of North Alabama (6-0) Lions in their first matchup all-time on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in Flowers Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Alabama State scored first on a service ace from Madison Beasley to go up 1-0 in the first set. 
  • North Alabama took the first set 25-16, despite four kills from Jada Rhodes.
  • The Lady Hornets held a 7-6 lead behind two kills from Amaya Finley early in the second set.
  • Alabama State put together a late 3-0 scoring run but dropped the second set 25-20.
  • The Lions took a 3-0 lead early in the third set before Alabama State went on a 12-9 run to even the score at 12.
  • North Alabama finished the third set on a 4-0 run to claim the 25-20 victory and a win in straight sets.

  • Madison Beasley continues to excel in the setter position after recording a season-high 21 assists and one service ace against North Alabama. 
  • Kalysia Bates spiked a team-high nine kills, bringing her to a team-leading 57 for the season.
  • Temperance Chatman led ASU in digs with nine in tonight's match. 
  • Elif Oszoy registered 27 assists which is good for a game-high.
  • Despite the loss, eight Lady Hornets tallied kills on the night.
