HOW IT HAPPENED
- Shmya Ward and Jayla Crawford combined for ASU's first four points to put the Hornets in front 4-2 just three minutes into the contest.
- Ayana Emmanuel finished the first frame with four points but the Lady Hornets fell behind by two points heading into the second quarter (16-14).
- Ward knotted the score at 16 apiece to open the second quarter on a contested layup.
- AAMU put together a 5-0 run to take a 21-16 advantage at the 8:26 mark in the second quarter.
- The Lady Hornets regained the lead at 22-21 on scores from Ward, Crawford, and Cordasia Harris midway through the second.
- AAMU held ASU scoreless in the last five minutes to head into the intermission with a 30-24 lead.
- Ward logged ASU's first points of the second half followed by a three-pointer from Emmanuel to bring ASU back within one point (30-29).
- The Lady Hornets were outscored 17-13 in the third quarter and fell behind by 10 points to start the final quarter.
- AAMU's lead grew to as much as 17 points with 7:19 left to play in regulation.
