DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | The Alabama State men's basketball team fell short in a 64-62 heartbreaker to the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Saturday afternoon inside Moore Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Both squads exchanged baskets evenly to start the contest until BCU took a narrow 14-12 lead with six minutes gone off the clock.
  • TJ Madlock, Duane Posey, and Roland McCoy chipped in scores to put Alabama State in front 19-18 midway through the first half.
  • BCU stormed back to take a 27-20 advantage with 5:29 left until intermission.
  • The Wildcats' lead swelled to 34-24 headed into halftime.
  • Jordan O'Neal knocked down a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to eight to open the second half.
  • The Hornets were able to pull within six (43-37) at the under-16 media timeout.
  • Isaiah Range drained a three-pointer to cut the margin to 49-46 with 12:18 left to play in regulation.
  • Range added another jumper followed by a three-pointer by McCoy to knot the score at 51 all at the 9:12 mark.
  • The Wildcats held a 58-52 lead with 4:22 left in the second half.
  • Range tied the score at 58 apiece just two minutes later with a made jumper.
  • Madlock sunk a free throw and Damien Madison knocked down a late three-pointer but the Wildcats held on to win 64-62.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Isaiah Range scored a team-high 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
  • TJ Madlock logged 12 points and three rebounds on the afternoon. Madlock also led the team in assists with three total.
  • Jordan O'Neal finished with a team-high six rebounds and eight points.
  • The Hornets shot 42.1 percent from the floor, 35.3 percent from three, and 61.5 percent from the foul line.
  • ASU outscored BCU in the paint 28-24.
